Summary: The 21st Century was described by futurists as one where the generation, organization, processing transmission and dissemination of knowledge are the main economic activities for the majority of the people. The situation of the Philippines, at the crossroads of mainland Asia and the Pacific, can be illustrative. Where we used to exports agricultural products they later became manufactured materials. Over the past two decades, we shifted from products to human resources, from unskilled labor to more specialized higher-level services.
